This is an fabulous anime, so it’s a shame that ADV hasn’t released it until now; three years after they got the license. What I worship about this charming documentary about the fondly remembered Hammer films, and the studio that created them, is that you can feel the care for and sense of wonder the participants have for the subject matter. No dry-as-dust history lesson here, but rather a fun-filled romp down the black, dank castle corridors and into the forbidden crypts of our approved films from the “Studio That Dripped Blood”.

Kudos to all alive to for taking a very mountainous wealth of material, and paring it down into a constantly intriguing 95 minutes of vintage photos, trailers and arresting on-stage interviews from the unbelievable Fanex conventions of days past. This gem is a dependable treat for both Hammer Film enthusiasts and alarm film buffs in general, and would manufacture a astonishing introductory presentation for those willing, or unwilling (heh,heh,heh…) victims who have yet to gape upon the macabre masterpieces from the house of Hammer!

Those of us who lived in the Baltimore Position were lucky to have the FANEX Conventions here. Hammer Films are my favorites, along with Universal, of course. Because of FANEX, I got to meet some of the premier actors of Hammer- Caroline Munro, Ingrid Pitt, Martine Beswick, Veronica Carlson, Michael Ripper, and my fav, Yutte Stensgaard. Now recordings from those cons have been achieve together in this slick documentary on Hammer. Interviews with those in front of, and late, the cameras originate for a sharp sage about movie-making. Some of the stories will build you laugh, some will acquire you feel sentimental- like when Christopher Lee talks about Peter Cushing. But it will entertain you no extinguish. Sadly, some of these folks are no longer with us, but that’s what makes this a keeper. And the stamp is a accurate deal. If you like Hammer, you should add this to your DVD library.

Excellent Sci-fi film. The premise of this movie is that Sigourney Weaver must go relieve to the novel planet where her deceased crew made first contact with the Alien, this time with a troop stout of marines. This is a broad movie that has classic Cameron action sequences and special effects, but also a frantic and claustrophobic atmosphere. All of the acting is well done, namely Sigourney Weaver, Paul Reiser, Bill Paxton, and the miniature kid. The Alien Queen at the kill aloof looks AWESOME. Snappy warning, though, this is the SPECIAL EDITION, and that means you CAN ONLY Settle THE DIRECTOR’S Slit, not the theatrical version. This may obtain a inequity because about 17 minutes of footage are added, mostly for reliable reason, but occasionally it is unnecessary and/or slightly damaging to the suspense. My advice to you is RENT THE DVD first, objective to perform obvious you like the recent version and extra footage, and take it later. In case you were wondering, most of the restored footage has to do with the colonists early on and some pleasing cold sentry machine guns about 2/3 through. In my plan, either version is expansive, too awful they didn’t include both!

Cameron did the intellectual thing with Aliens–go in a completely different direction from Ridley Scott’s film and effect something fresh that unruffled had his signature on it. In fact, Cameron already had a tale he had written with the same basic premise–it honest didn’t have Ripley nor did it have the Aliens from the film series. He adapted it and made it work for this terrific 5 star sequel.

This is essentially the same version that was released in the Alien Quadrilogy boxed plot serve in behind November. Here’s the deal; this characterize quality isn’t a substantial step up from the previously available DVD. The extras are glowing indepth including Cameron’s new memoir treatment and every from pre to post production footage and information. It’s a ample package. I should warn you, though, that this is not an anamorphic movie. It wasn’t shot that draw (in fact a lot of Cameron’s early features weren’t shot in anamorphic widescreen because of the effort of lighting the optical effects among many other things but you’ll hear more about that in the commentary part) . So this is presented in its modern 1.85:1 widescreen ratio but not in a anamorphic format.

There are some minor compression issues. Since Aliens was shot on film stock that was very grainy (it was a recent film stock and you’ll gawk a lot of films from the time with a similar eye) . It actually enhances the feel and recognize of the film capturing the Vietnam era references that Cameron was making with the film. So it was grainy before and composed looks that procedure.

Using a format called Extended Branching allows both versions of the film to be on the same dual layered DVD at the same time and saves disc site. I noticed a comment about the lack of a DTS soundtrack. My view is that Cameron was very ecstatic with the sound on the modern release and had no desire to fiddle with this version.

All in all a terrific version of the movie. The packaging is probably going to be better here as the Quadrilogy had a fold out accordian format which I loathe.

See it and vote on Nov. 2. I disagree with an earlier reviewer who compares the film to those of Michael Moore. There is nothing tongue-in-cheek in UNCONSITUTIONAL, no consume of humor to dampen or soften the blow of this documentary. This is as serious as they collect. Very compelling film. Should be required viewing for everyone BEFORE they vote. Enormous props to director Nonny de la Peña and producer Robert Greenwald (responsible for the other “UN” docs and the potent “OUTFOXED”) for making this indispensable, principal film. As UNCONSTITUTIONAL points out, there was no debate on The Patriot Act before Congress passed it. Now is the time to have that debate, in the public arena.

It’s about time someone delved into the repercussions of the Bush administration’s Patriot Act, a hurried part of legislation that was supposed to provide us a safeguard against terrorists. Director Nonny de la Pena, under the supervision of Robert Greenwald (who directed the blistering “Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch’s War on Journalism”, also strongly recommended) has made an eye-opening, sometimes gross documentary that brings modern, unfiltered light to the underbelly of the Patriot Act. Subjected to last-minute additions and changes before passing that dramatically altered its orientation, it has had a considerable and heretofore unknown impact on our civil liberties, and the film pulls no punches in outlining those violations. De la Pena asserts that many of the provisions in the Patriot Act have exiguous to do with terrorism and were honest changes that various conservative Republicans wanted for a long time.

The invasion of privacy highlighted is mammoth. According to the film, the government can now request customer records from stores and conduct sneak-peek searches in people’s homes without a warrant. The documentary does provide satisfactory news in that the officials who actually passed it are beginning to inquire of its effectiveness and clamoring for public debate about it. De la Pena even interviews Representative Robert Barr, one of the more conservative members of Congress, who is quite commence about his concerns regarding the credence of the Act. But the most telling piece of the documentary is the sage of the Hamouis, a Syrian family who owned a grocery store in Seattle for over a decade. Under the guidelines of the Patriot Act, the government arrested and detained them, not allowing them access to many of the rights due even to criminals. They were held with only vague charges even though for all intents and purposes, the Hamouis are “American”. And even after the FBI cleared them, they remained in jail for months, with cramped suitable recourse. This is exactly the racist world that conservative muckraker Michelle Malkin proposes in her disturbing book, “In Defense of Internment: The Case for Racial Profiling in World War II and the War on Dismay”, and it’s dim to realize that it is coming into fruition. De la Pena shows how wrong identities lump the well-behaved in with the terrible, and the Patriot Act allowed innocent citizens to be removed from Florida voter rolls for having names similar to those of felons. This is necessary viewing for anyone who values the U.S Constitution and champions the battle against intolerance.

`Lord of the Flies’ has been made into a movie at least twice since the William Golding modern of the same name became a cult classic / must read volume for high school and college students in the leisurely 1950s. The first version, which follows the new very closely, was done in dusky and white by the illustrious director, Peter Brook in 1963. The second version was done in color by Harry Hook and released in 1990.

Like many remakes in the same language, one immediately wonders why bother, as the fresh Brook version is more than spicy enough to whisper the message of the original.

The scene is plot when an airplane carrying school children crashes in the South Pacific, of the flee of a remote tropical island. Approximately 30 of the children, ages 6 to 13 fabricate it to shore and bag on the beach to work out how they are to survive and seize that since they are far removed from their new destination and the island is itsy-bitsy and uninhabited, there is a respectable chance it will choose a long time, if ever, for grown-ups to acquire and rescue them. Ralph and Jack fight, Ralph is driven off, and the whole tribe sets fire to the jungle to flush out Ralph and, presumably, end him. Both stories waste as Ralph runs to the beach to win himself at the feet of a very professionally uniformed member of his country’s elite armed services.

Hook spices up the dialogue by making the boys grand more hip with lots of direct words and references to contemporary current shows such as Alf and Miss Piggy of the Muppets. Unfortunately, Hook loses the two most distinguished elements of the whole legend. In the beginning of the current and, subtly, in the beginning of Brook’s film, we examine that the world is once more at war and the boys from several different schools are on a plane to Australia to earn relative safety from the coming (nuclear? ) conflict. Hook shows nothing of this, giving us simply a group of boys from the same military academy on a rush to goodness knows where. This totally looses the whole allegorical sense of the yarn where the conflict between the boys mirrors the war in the world at spacious, especially the sense of the last scene where the world (island) is destroyed by the conflict (fire) .

The second major oversight in Hook’s rendition is that there is never enough attention given to the significance of the pig’s head, Simon’s vision, and the sense of `The Lord of the Flies’. A less notable point is that the origin of the monster anecdote is different in the two movies. Brook’s film follows the book and has it be a misinterpretation of a billowing parachute from a fallen, tiring, pilot. Hook creates the record out of the spasms of the downed plane’s delirious pilot as he finds refuge in a cave and is rediscovered by Simon who believes he is a monster.

Both movies do a credible job of depicting the topple of nominally civilized boys into savagery and account. The combat between Ralph and Jack advance the slay is straight out of Frazier’s `The Golden Bough’ on the story of killing the king. Unfortunately, Hook’s version seems as eviscerated as the pig carcass, as all the colossal allegorical of the novel legend are totally lost. And, as minimal as they were, I even mediate the boys’ performances in Brook’s version are better done, as their initial innocence in the face of this loss of civilization makes their transformation all the more curious.

Brook’s version is highly recommended.

It was a pleasure to search for the unusual version of “Lord of the Flies” again. I’ll be alive to in seeing the DVD version as well, to discover what additional material comes in that format. Having been one of the boys in the movie, I also appreciated seeing the reviews posted by other Amazon customers! I wonder if any of the other cast members have checked out this state…

I confess to liking the modern version far more than the remake, but that’s not surprising, I guess. I TRIED to maintain an launch mind when I saw the fresh version, but, alas, I failed. My recollections of running from the burning jungle, coughing, onto the beach at the waste makes a black-and-white rendition seem more valid to me.

I can understand everyone else’s opinions about this movie…

true, the script was a exiguous messy…suitable the animation interaction with live action was snappily done…but all that is beside the greatness of this film, this movie remains one of my popular movies of all time. WHY?

Because this movie is remarkable more than what it is…obviously there are hidden messages/images in this film…especially in the ending when Holli picks up the “spike” on top of the tower in the steady Las Vegas. The title “Wintry World” is meant to be a sarcastic quotation. Holli seems to picture substandard in the most inspiring map. There is a lot of tainted going on in the backround and foreground in this film throughout. Temptation (I own) is the main subject, but there are other subjects tackled in the movie as well.

If you have only seen this movie once…it deserves a second view…and if you collected don’t net the message, then I can only say that “Chilly World” is a reflection of who people really are, and it is ironic that so many people seem to dislike this film. You simply cannot compare this to “Who Framed…” that film was a typical disney flick…Frosty World is a satire of our society.

Kim Basinger’s cocky acting as the staunch Holli, was done on purpose (I bear) . Because it shows what would happen when you prefer someone such as a cartoon charater out of it’s enjoy environment. Kim Basinger pulled that off really well, she was supposed to appear more appealing then the doodle Holli.

I don’t even contain Holli is really a doodle…and if she is then obviously she may be the ‘demon’ of Frigid World, besides all she does is exhaust people throughout this describe…and whenever she is around…improper is in bulky finish…and when she’s effect in her residence at the destroy…Cold World’s scenery has changed a bit.

I’ll leave the rest of this stuff to your occupy imaginations…I won’t spoil it, cause there is grand more in this flick. Icy World is a very complex film, and seems like it was written as a puzzle for people to figure out later on. Every time I behold it I noticed something about it that I didn’t peer before. The themes in this film are very depressing, gloomy and gothic and a exiguous to actual, so I would not reccomend this relate to children; and I absorb it was not intended for children. Frosty World deserved better for positive. Highly mis-understood.

You cannot deem this movie by venerable standards. This is not meant to be Roger Rabbit for adults, it is not meant to be Citizen Kane, it is not meant to be Wierd Science. It is meant to be a completely different genre all by itself, and must be judged as such.

This movie scares me. Not in the sense of “it scares me that anyone would gain a movie this awful,” but more in the Blair Witch Project kind of scary. What it lacks in spot and scripting, it makes up for in atmosphere and creepiness. The “wooden nickels” scene is an example of this; some guy throws a handful of wooden nickels to some innocent kids, and the nickels recede to inaugurate their mouths and indulge in the unsuspecting children. It’s this kind of random, disturbing event that makes Cold World worth watching. This is a wierd movie for when you need to go on a major acid poke but you don’t want to actually build drugs into your system. It is the movie to scrutinize when you want to leave all reality and morality tedious and contemplate about what could happen if we could interact with cartoon characters in a cartoon world that, unlike the “toontown” of Roger Rabbit, resembles our acquire world considerable more closely than we’d like to believe.

Elisabeth’s beauty was legendary. 17-year broken-down Romy Schneider was perfect in the role of the bewitching, outgoing, free-spirit. She plays Sisi from the age of 15 to her mid-20s when the last film ends.

The films were made between 1955 and 1957 as an Austro-German co-production under the helm of Austrian director Ernst Marischka. They are not historically moral. They are in the style of mid-50s romantic comedies, good-natured and innocent and with a expansive dose of cornball humour. To unique viewers they may appear dated, schmaltzy and yes corny.

The first film “Sissi” is my favourite. It has the most pageantry and is the archetypal romance with the fairy-tale ending. It begins with Elisabeth’s chance meeting with the young Franz-Josef, literally “hooking” him while out fishing in the lakes around Austria’s picturesque Salzkammergut. It chronicles their secret whirlwind romance against the wishes of their parents and ends with the lavish Royal Wedding in Vienna amidst general rejoicing.

“Sissi: Die Junge Kaiserin” (The Young Empress) charts the first year of her marriage to Franz-Josef, her unhappiness at court, the meddling of her mother-in-law, her championing of Hungarian rights and ends with the Hungarian coronation.

“Sissi: Der Shicksalsjahre einer Kaiserin” (The Fateful Years of an Empress) chronicles her estrangement from the Austrian court, her diagnosis with a severe lung disease, presumably tuberculosis and her absorbing to warmer climes; her travels to Madeira, Corfu, Athens, Milan and Venice. The third film takes the most liberties in conflating fact and fiction. All the murky parts of her life have been removed or altered. The film ends with the Imperial Family meeting the Pope at St Mark’s Basilica in Venice. The final lingering shot is of the jubilant family waving at their real Italian subjects in the Piazza San Marco as the band strikes up Haydn’s rousing Kaiserhymne one last time.

Each of the 3 films is presented on its occupy individual disc. Disc 4 contains the 139min abridged version shown in America. It is recut with scenes reordered and dubbed into English and contains a unusual title song “Forever My Cherish” sung in English. In doing so it omits the new Sissi theme music. It is too truncated for my liking though American viewers averse to reading subtitles and not wanting to expend 5-plus hours on the originals may procure this a worthwhile substitute.

Disc 5 contains the 1954 film “Mädchenjahre einer Königin” (Youthful Years of a Queen) . 15-year archaic Romy Schneider plays Britain’s newly crowned Queen Victoria. Amidst the scheming to win her married off to one or other of the royal houses of Europe, she travels to Dover and falls madly in care for with a dashing young man who turns out to be the admire of her life, Prince Albert of the German House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. Like the Sissi films this is also a light-hearted romance with humour provided in the acquire of the 3-stooges-like ladies-in-waiting and the young Queen’s bumbling feeble manservant. Picture quality is helpful in the main Sissi Trilogy. The entire trilogy has been restored and remastered. A few scattered instances of damaged and off-colour segments can be found but they are thankfully rare. All 3 films are presented in their recent 1.33:1 aspect ratio (fullscreen) . Sound quality is certain 1.0 mono, although it tends to be very luminous, noticeable especially when the children near screeching onto the cloak. Overall, very resplendent recount and acceptable sound. Optional English subtitles are provided. The 139min American version has NOT been restored. Disagreement is status resplendent high, the image looks a lot brighter, washed out at times, and colours are slightly off - Franz’s blue uniform looks almost green at times. “Mädchenjahre einer Königin” has similarly not been restored and suffers from the same deficiencies. Collected they are watchable, about comparable to a TV broadcast of vintage 50s material. Extras are exquisite limited: A trailer each for the first and last Sissi films and a vintage 18-minute “Gradual the Scenes” featurette for “Die Junge Kaiserin” on Disc 2. Romy Schneider takes us through the filming at the Schönbrunn Summer Palace, the honeymoon in the Tyrolean Alps, and Fuchsl Castle which stands in for Sisi’s childhood home of Possenhofen. Three truly enjoyable gems from the past, beautifully restored. The label though should be a itsy-bitsy lower.

This is a really fun, fun movie. It’s not the beat all of science fiction as it was hyped when it was released, but it certainly is a superior combination high adventure, station comedy, cyberpunk, and Bruce Willis gun fighting action. Doesn’t get sense? Don’t grief. I’ll elaborate.

High adventure comes from the plot: establish the earth from gross by finding some mystic items and a perfect human before the appointed zero hour. That worthy is distinct. Cyberpunk explains in a blueprint the setting of the futuristic urban scenes, which are fantastically portrayed in this movie. All of the settings and technology were impressive as well as stylish. The special effects were well above average and in many scenes very impressive, but a residence comedy? You got it. I won’t derive into the details. I will say there are quite a few scenes that involve the kind of subplots you come by in sitcoms. This is a pleasant thing by the design. A lesser movie would mess this up. Director Luc Besson made all of these elements (no pun intended) fit seamlessly.

Acting is gigantic. Despite well-liked thought of models not being very edifying actors the models that acted in this film did a capable job of being campy in an challenging arrangement without hamming it up. I can go on an on about each of the reas actors and how they succeeded in pulling off whatever character, but I will digress to two ends of the spectrum. Chris Tucker as Ruby Rhod is priceless and worth the heed of admission alone. One exception I would have to say is Tommy “Itsy-bitsy” Lister as the President. Up until the final scenes his acting was graceful dry. I also have to criticize whoever decided to hype up the fact the movie has Luke Perry in it, who played Billy. Billy did nothing to carry the situation and only had a cameo role in the beginning. Ugh… Hollywood.

The movie can gain too trendy. The music, though nice, didn’t really fit the setting. The very last scene is totally lame and if you ask me unlikely (sorry Korby…) . And there is a scene or two that was impartial trying too hard to be hip. I can forgive all that because the comedy, action and drama do fit in to what ends up being a mirthful romp in high flying action.

Sony dropped the ball on their first blu-ray release of The Fifth Element. The uncompressed PCM and Dolby 5.1 surround tracks blew you away, but the video quality was merely on par with regular DVD resolution. This time Sony listened to their fans and remastered the movie so that you obtain the fleshy 1080p savor you deserved the last time. Bought the first blu-ray? No spot. One downside though: no extras. That’s legal. All the chilly stuff in the ultimate edition is gone. Getting this DVD is objective like getting the first one they released. You accumulate only the movie and some trivia text. If I were you I would level-headed wait until they form some kind of special edition in blu-ray so you derive the higher resolution AND the goodies.

If you want to experience a varied range of ample emotions without taking any one of them too seriously then you’re going to admire The Fifth Element. If you want high definition and special features then you better wait. I am betting this is going to be the case with most (if not all) recent HD-DVD and Blu-Ray DVDs that first advance out.

The sage goes that director Luc Besson began writing THE FIFTH ELEMENT in his teens, incorporating all the Sci-Fi elements he loved into one over-the-top, ample set opera…sort of an “E.E. ‘Doc’ Smith ‘Skylark’ Meets Flash Gordon and Barbarella” hybrid with sex, intergalactic action, and even some pseudo-religious overtones tossed in…in other words, a teenage daydream reach factual! Critics panned the demolish result for this very reason, sneering at Bruce Willis’ Earth-saving (yet again!) Korben Dallas, and Besson’s then-girlfriend, clothing-optional Milla Jovovich, as the innocent demigod, Leeloo.

The critics were atrocious!

THE FIFTH ELEMENT is, in the best sense of the word, a classic ‘B’ movie, a set opera where a prologue vaguely similar to STARGATE leads to a future Earth where traffic jams occur thirty stories above the ground, humanity is ruled by paunchy ‘Tiny’ Lister Jr., and where the Ultimate Improper is served by everyone’s current villain, Gary Oldman, sporting a Southern accent! If this DOESN’T convince you that this is a ‘popcorn’ flick, not to be taken too seriously, there is Chris Tucker, sporting a blond hairdo, as the Galaxy’s well-liked media personality, promoting himself as he hits on his adoring female fans; Ian Holm, as the monk who knows ‘the Secret’, forced, despite himself, to become an active participant in the adventure; and some of the most … grisly alien mercenaries you’ll ever contemplate, terrorizing a position resort, until they meet their match in Bruce Willis’ ‘DIE HARD in Space’ protagonist! Yippee-Ki-Yay, indeed!

The FX are amazing, the comedy, sizable and sly, the heroics, macho, and as Leeloo, sent to keep Earth, Jovovich manages to be both naive and sexy, with broken English and a gymnast’s grace.

Bruce Willis is a joy, as always, to scrutinize, and he carries the film with charm and self-depreciating humor, whether dealing with endless phone calls from his mother, driving his sky taxi recklessly (cabbies change very minute in the future!), taking on terrorists single-handed, or falling for the exotic Leeloo. When he blows away a roomful of hostage-holding aliens, then asks, “Does anyone else want to negotiate? “, you KNOW Besson picked the accurate guy for the lead!

If you want Profound Science Fiction, seek 2001: A Plot ODYSSEY again…but if you want to kick support and unbiased have fun, explore no further…THE FIFTH ELEMENT delivers!

I am an avid watcher of Sex and the City, I worship the display. However, I judge other fans will agree with me when I say that Season 5 was exquisite noteworthy the lowpoint of the series. I characterize all of the episodes of every season and eye them frequently . . . I haven’t touched my Season 5 tapes since it aired.

Initially, it was supposed to be 13 episodes (instead of the normal 18) to accomodate Sarah’s pregnancy. We were supposed to win 8 episodes in the summer and then she was to return to the prove for 5 more episodes the following spring. As you can seek, that never happened. We were left with 8, “okay” episodes.

My main complaint and its a expansive one, is the pricing of the DVD “space”, if you can call it that. This is the shortest season of the series, 8 episodes, compared to the normal 18. Now why in hell would I pay fair as noteworthy money for 8 episodes as I would for 18? I mean, maybe if they’d added some special features to this station to gain up for a lack of episodes, I might think buying this. However, quick-witted what I do about the Sex and the City DVDs I gain, I highly doubt that anything has been added.

In short, I cannot recommend this occupy simply because HBO is asking the same from us (monetarily speaking) and only delivering about a quarter of what they have in the past (episodes and episode quality) . Even though I savor the series, I will not pick this item.

Since season 5 was carve short due to Sarah Jessica Parker’s pregancy, I mediate they should combine season 5 and 6 for one notice instead of charging the same thing for only 8 episodes. I love Sex and the City and will miss it dearly. At least I have my DVDs to scrutinize over and over. I like my “girls of summer”!!!

It’s Halloween Night, and the House of Mouse is hoppin’, as usual. There do seem to be more villains in the audience than normal, however, but the note goes on as always! Dressed in his vampirey best, Mickey emcees a collection of frightfully droll, Halloween-themed Disney shorts to the dining Disney clientele. Microscopic does he know that the Disney villains, led by the scandalous Jafar, are plotting to rob over the “House of Mouse” before the evening is over! Will Mickey be able to dig up enough Disney magic to halt them?

“Mickey’s House of Villains” is a Halloween extravaganza in the spirit of Disney’s classic holiday short-subject compilations such as the grand revered “A Disney Halloween Treat.” Featuring a collection of classic and all modern Disney short cartoons that execute up the bulk of this direct-to-video program inspired by the “House of Mouse” piquant television series, “Mickey’s House of Villains” is a must have for the Disney and Halloween fanatic. Now, many have complained that the packaging and title are misleading, but not so for those familiar with the “House of Mouse” titillating series format. The approved Disney engrossing series has always been a expose that brings all of Disney’s beloved characters together under the same roof, that of Mickey’s “House of Mouse” nightclub, for resplendent dining and entertainment in the manufacture of Disney keen shorts. I mean, you should know going in that you’re buying a Halloween themed DVD. Anyway, this is a astonishing compilation for Halloween and does a respectable job filling in for the lack of a “Disney Halloween Treat” DVD release. There are no clips from racy features here, but you do bag 8 fabulous, high-quality Disney involving shorts, both classic and fresh! And, yes, though the modern shorts were made for the slightly pre-House of Mouse television series, “Mickey MouseWorks,” they ARE high quality and very fascinating. In fact, one of the best cartoons in the collection is such a short, Goofy’s “How to Haunt a House.” Here is a accelerate through of the shorts offered within the “House of Mouse” themed program:

Donald and the nephews hear the radio warning, and the kids are worried to death. Donald takes the opportunity to play some pranks on the boys. Cramped does he know that the ducks aren’t the only ones running wild in the house that night…

“Donald’s Halloween Panic” (Fresh) : This novel short is a loyal treat, as it more specifically features Halloween (like “Trick or Treat” did) and gives us more of Donald’s incessant pranking on Huey, Louie, and Dewey! The joke is on him though, when he is improper for a slasher-movie style loonatic on the loose!

“Hansel and Gretel” (Fresh) : Our final short is another “Fantasia” style toon region to music. It’s a charming rendition of Hansel and Gretel starring no less than Mickey and Minnie Mouse in the title roles!

The DVD extras aren’t anything to howl about. There is a villain themed trivia game, a clip video that can be watched with or without music, and some pictures of Disney Villains in the menu that lead to more movie clips. Better than all that is the inclusion of a “Lilo and Stitch” trailer featuring modern animation of Ariel the Dinky Mermaid. However, with all these incredible shorts and the highly animated wraparound material, it’s beyond me why anyone wouldn’t be thrilled to fill this Disney DVD! While I can understand folks being upset when they were expecting an involving feature about Mickey going up against all the Disney Villains, all I can say is, cessation blind-buying DVDs if you are prone to being displeased. Always check the facts with direct-to-video! For what it is, the Halloween-themed “Mickey’s House of Villains” DVD deserves the stout five stars, not to mention annual viewings at the very least!

Buy this, either VHS or DVD, but select it! The theme is Halloween, and the setting is Mickey’s House of Mouse, with respectable novel titillating shorts, very amusing and beautifully rendered, and the weak classic shorts, with Huey, Dewey and Louey getting succor at “Unca Donald” for tricking them on Halloween, with the assist of Witch Hazel and her flying broom. Then “Lonesome Ghosts” with Donald, Goofy and Mickey as the fresh “Ghost Busters” being called to the “Broken-down McShiver Mansion” to rid the house of ghosts, … Then there is one with Donald and the nephews in a gigantic house during a thunderstorm when a gorilla breaks into their house…tremendous stuff. In between the customary classics are unusual and very droll shorts with big colors and details; I so enjoyed this I bought the DVD AND the VHS. Resolve for yourself, contemplate it and then you will discover what a colossal tape it is and how perfect for Halloween or anytime when you want a obliging outmoded fright without too considerable trauma! I absolutely LOVED it, and you will too.
